What we do...

The Elewana Education Project is actively working in 5 secondary schools and one primary school in Western Kenya.  Within each of these institutions, the Project works directly with school administration, faculty, and students to improve the school facilities and academic performance with in the school. Additionally, Elewana works to pair each of these schools with a partner school in the U.S.  for mutual curricular and service learning opportunities.  Below is a brief description of some of these schools and their U.S. partners.

Amagoro Junior Academy in Amagoro, Kenya

Amagoro Junior is a pre-K through 8th grade primary school founded by Bishop Zak Epusi in 1998.  The school has a student population of about 300, and was recently fitted with solar power and a small computer lab.  One of the best primary schools in the District, A.J.A. sent all of its 2009 graduates to provincial and, in one case, a national school. Furthermore, the Elewana Project has worked extensively with the faculty and students at Amagoro Junior.  Currently, three students, all orphans, are being sponsored and Elewana is working with the faculty to improve the computer instruction available to the students and to further facilitate the relationship with the Greenbrier Episcopal School, AJA's partner school in the U.S.
